The Rotary Club of Hobart is a proud supporter of a number of Rotary Youth Programs. These programs support the continued growth and ambition of our young people to help them have the confidence to achieve what they want in life.
If you are interested in any of these programs, please register or express your interest to our club, and we will support your application from start to finish.
ROTARY INTERNATIONAL YOUTH EXCHANGE (RYE)
Are you ready for the adventure of a lifetime?
The Rotary International Youth Exchange is a landmark program, helping connect young people with cultural and personal growth opporunities around the world.
Over a full 12 months, continue your year 11 or 12 high school education while living aboard with a local Rotary host family. Make friends from all over the world, delve deep in the language and culture and gain the insight into who you are and what you want to do.
A program like no others, build your resilience and and worldliness with a Rotary International Youth Exchange.
FINANCIAL SUPPORT
We understand that not every family is in a position to afford the amazing opportunities available through Rotary Youth Programs.
The Rotary Club of Hobart is able to sponsor or subsidise all the Rotary Youth programs. We apply means testing and encourage the initiative of coordinating your own fundraising. Reach out to the Club if you would like more information
WINDEWARD BOUND YOUTH LEADERSHIP CHALLENGE
Set sail outside your comfort zone
Be a part of a 10-day voyage on the iconic “Windeward Bound” brigandine tall ship. 10 locals and 10 new Tasmanians come together to work the lines, keep watch and learn the value of teamwork, leadership and resilience.
Learn the skills of sailing from local experts develop a greater understanding of your peers despite your different backgrounds. A truly life changing experience, the Windeward Bound Youth Leadership Challenge is as tough as it is rewarding.
SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING CHALLENGE (SEC)
Grow your STEM skills while tinkering with your friends
Open to year 8 & 9 students through your school, challenge your inventive mind with a range of fun, interactive and engaging competitions and tasks. In coordination with the University of Newcastle and the University of Tasmania, the Science and Engineering Challenge helps you discover your passion for STEM, and how to take the big ideas into practical and real world demonstration.
NATIONAL YOUTH SCIENCE FORUM (NYSF)
Discover your passion for science alongside the brightest minds in Australia
A deep dive into the wonder and power of science, the National Youth Science Forum is a unique opportunity to interact with mind bending experiment, lectures from national science experts and attended by the most curious students from across Australia.

ROTARY YOUTH DRIVER AWARENESS (RYDA)
Develop your driving skills
Join RYDA and participate in a community road safety initiative delivering practical road safety information targeting attitude and awareness of young drivers and passengers.
Open to young people in year 10, learn the skills to get you and your friends home safe, every time.
ROTARY YOUTH LEADERSHIP AWARD (RYLA)
Become the leader the world needs you to be
Leadership is a muscle so join RYLA for an intensive bootcamp to make you strong, powerful and capable. Hosted at Camp Clayton in Ulverstone, RYLA uses practical and physical games and activities to develop your leadership awareness and how you can lead and be a better member in teams.
Open to young people between the age of 18 – 30, build your confidence and courage to lead at RYLA
ROTARY YOUTH PROGRAM OF ENRICHMENT (RYPEN)
A weekend of leadership, initiative and responsibility.
Get a head start in reaching your potential at the RYPEN weekend camp.
Join other people like you for an intense weekend of activities that will build your self-image, motivation, initiative, confidence and goal-setting skills.
At the same time, you’ll make new friends from different backgrounds, improve your teamwork skills and have fun! All this is done in an atmosphere where questions and discussions are encouraged.
