Enjoy sailing, food and drink on a skippered yacht on the D’Entrecasteaux Channel at the annual Rotary Hobart Charity Sail Day.
Featuring 40+ of Hobart’s most iconic sail and motor boats, Sail Day is an opportunity to relax on the river while contributing to the Rotary Cub of Hobart’s major fundraising event. Sponsor a boat and reward your team at one of the most celebrated recreational sailing events in Australia.
HOW IT WORKS
Rotary Sail Day is a charity fundraising event.
Businesses sponsor a yacht for the day at a cost of $1,100 (inc GST) with standard packages available for yachts accommodating up to 8 guests. Fully catered lunches including drinks are generously provided by some of Hobart’s principal food and beverage suppliers.
The day commences at 9:00am with boarding at the departure points. The fleet then assembles at the starting line under the direction of the Cruise Commodore for departure as a group at 10:00am. We then all cruise together to a suitable destination in the Channel. Our destination will be chosen by the Cruise Commodore having regard to weather conditions. On arrival at the destination boats are encouraged to raft up together in groups to facilitate networking, fellowship and fun. If there are any particular groups that would like to raft together, that can be arranged.
THE STORY OF SAIL DAY
Hitting the waves since 1989.
Rotary Hobart Sail Day has become an annual Hobart institution. First started in 1989 by a group of Rotarians wanting to share their passion for sailing with the local community, the event has grown year on year.
Since its inception, Sail Day has raised over $1,000,000. Your continued support means Rotary can continue to contribute and make a real impact for local and international goodwill projects.
The Rotary Club of Hobart Sail Day Committee would like to thank the following for their valued assistance; all boat owners, skippers and crew, local yacht clubs, Tasmanian Bakeries, PFD Food Services, Salamanca Fresh, Coca-Cola Amatil, T-Bone Brewery, Frank’s Cider, Robert Oatley Wines, Small Batch Distillers, the Mercury and Before Creative and all the sponsors of prizes for the raffle. We also acknowledge the Carlton Park Surf Life Saving Club for their support on the day.
